The Ward 30 Neighbourhood Watch in Thabong is appealing for urgent assistance after a house in Masola Street was destroyed by fire.

The Ward 30 Neighbourhood Watch in Thabong is appealing for urgent community assistance after a devastating house fire completely destroyed a family home at 856 Maseloa Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at approximately 02:00 on 15 February, leaving the family homeless and without any possessions. Initial investigations suggest the cause of the blaze was faulty electrical wiring, highlighting the ongoing risks posed by substandard electrical installations in residential areas.

The affected family has lost all their belongings in the fire and now faces the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch. Community leaders have identified urgent needs including corrugated iron sheets for temporary shelter, blankets and bedding for immediate comfort, non-perishable food items, clothing for all family members, and basic toiletries.

Any donation, big or small, will help restore hope to the affected family

This is a desperate situation. The family needs immediate shelter, warmth, and food. Any form of assistance big or small will make a meaningful difference during this difficult time.

The incident has prompted an immediate response from the Ward 30 Neighbourhood Watch, which has mobilised to coordinate relief efforts and ensure the family receives the support they desperately need during this difficult time.

    Community support network activated

Patrick Mholo, speaking on behalf of the Neighbourhood Watch, emphasised the importance of community solidarity in times of crisis. “Any donation, big or small, will help restore hope to the affected family,” he stated.

The organisation has established multiple contact points to facilitate donations and assistance. Community members willing to help can reach out to Patrick Mholo on 078 323 3658, Kgotso Modibedi (a family member) on 082 795 0188, or Pastor Thekiso Ramorara (Neighbourhood Watch CPF treasurer) on 063 333 3661.

Mholo says the Ward 30 Neighbourhood Watch remains committed to supporting affected families whilst working to raise awareness about fire prevention and safety measures within the community.
