A march to demand better services took place on Friday 30 January in Welkom

A march against the executive mayor of Matjhabeng, Thanduxolo Khalipha, was held by the MK Party through the streets of Welkom on Friday 30 January.

Two provincial cabinet ministers chose not to receive a memorandum from the Umkhonto weSizwe Party leadership, says the provincial chairperson, Sandile Mabiza.

The mayor must account for the money he used while he was on special leave

They are Saki Mokoena, MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), and Moses Ketso Makume, MEC for Economic Development, Small Enterprise and Tourism.

“We are exposing the issue of corruption and maladministration. The economy of Matjhabeng is down because local businesses are been replaced by outside contractors doing the big jobs here,” says Mabiza.
