A concern caller of the Matjhabeng Municipality, Lejweleputswa District:
Who is in charge of the Matjhabeng-Lejweleputswa ambulance services, especially the ambulance service operator? I ask this because that person is very rude and unprofessional and has no communication skills.
I am referring to a recent incident that happened over the weekend of 25 April, at about 04:15. I personally requested an ambulance for an elderly woman and the ambulance never arrived and at about 10:15, they called to find out whether the ambulance is still needed. This must be investigated.
I had to think on my feet and come up with a plan to be assisted and get the emergency across to him for assistance because he was so unprofessional. I had to call the private services to assist me in my despair. These people were very professional, and my stress was immediately alleviated. They made me feel welcome, and the urgency they gave made me feel that my call was of the utmost importance. The woman who answered the phone immediately forwarded the incident and I received a reference number.
The message I received from Free State (FS) Health was: “Thank you for calling FS Emergency Service, your ref number is 202604260153. Please feel free to call if the patient condition changes. FSHealth.” The one I received from the private company was: “Thank you for choosing ER24. Your call has been logged and an emergency vehicle will be making its way to you. The reference number is E202604260139. In the event that the address is incorrect please contact us urgently on 084 124.”
Our people are losing loved ones due to the lack of service from our ambulance services.
