THABONG – What began as a journey in education as an education assistant has culminated in a major achievement for Tshepang Montso of the Seabo Primary School, who has emerged as the provincial winner in the category for excellence in teaching Natural Sciences at the National Teaching Awards.

Montso was recognised for her outstanding contribution to teaching and learning at an awards ceremony held at the Imvelo Safari Lodge in Bloemfontein on 28 August.

Her achievement marks a proud moment for Seabo, Circuit 1, the Lejweleputswa Education District and the Free State.

However, her achievement is about more than a single award. It reflects a remarkable professional journey and years of commitment to developing young minds.

Montso joined the education sector in 2021 as an education assistant at Seabo. Her dedication, commitment and passion for teaching soon became evident, earning the recognition and support of the school’s headmaster, Klaas Moopeloa.

Recognising her potential and the qualities needed to become an exceptional educator, Moopeloa encouraged and supported her professional growth. In 2022, Montso was appointed as a permanent teacher at the school.

Her passion for Natural Sciences has extended beyond the classroom. Under her guidance, learners from Seabo Primary School have reached the national level in science quiz competitions.
