With just more than a week to go until the 23rd annual Mediclinic Vista Road Race on Saturday, 23 August, excitement is mounting.

While getting ready to walk, jog or race, people can mark their calendars for this ASA and AFS-approved road race with the theme “Arise and Shine − It’s Time”.

“Hosted by the Eskom Athletics Club FS, this popular road race will feature various distances, including a 10km, 5km and a 1,6km road mile,” says Hilde du Plessis, organiser.

This event is not only a celebration of athleticism, but also a tribute to National Women’s Month and the importance of family and friends. Whether you are young, a master, or simply inspired, this is the event to enjoy to the fullest

“This event is not only a celebration of athleticism, but also a tribute to National Women’s Month and the importance of family and friends. Whether you are young, a master, or simply inspired, this is the event to enjoy to the fullest.”

The different races that form part of the event will take place between 11:00 and 15:00.

Online entries are open on entryninja.com.

Manual entries will be open at Virgin Active Welkom from Monday, 18 August, up to the Friday, from 13:00 to 18:30.

The cut-off for entries will be on the day of the event at 08:30.

Entry forms are available at the Vista office in Stateway, as well as at Mediclinic in Meulen Street, the SANBS offices in Welkom and Kroonstad, Charlotte Moll Haven in Virginia, and the Brandwag Volkskool in Odendaalsrus.

Du Plessis says they aim to highlight the extraordinary women in the community and the invaluable role of their families and friends − with the additional motivation to promote healthy living.

“This year, the race also supports awareness campaigns for the SANBS and beneficiaries such as CANSA and Charlotte Moll Haven in Virginia, a haven for mentally and physically disabled adults.

“Participants will have the opportunity to use this platform to show their support for the beneficiaries.”
