During the police’s Operation Vala Umgodi, which was conducted from 29 May to 1 June, 29 people were arrested for traffic-related offenses, illegal immigration, attempted theft, illegal mining, trespassing and possession of gold-bearing material.

Three suspected illegal miners – aged 31, 45 and 48 – were arrested in Bryn Street, Naudeville.

There were 330 stop and search operations, and 461 people and 115 vehicles were searched.
