During an oversight visit to schools in the Lejweleputswa District Municipality, executive mayor Veronica Ntakumbana reiterated the district’s commitment to bolstering educational initiatives.
Several senior officials joined her on the visit to the Letsete Secondary School and the Seabo Primary School in Thabong, Welkom.
Seiso Mohai, deputy minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, said objectives of the visit include evaluating school interventions in place, identifying actions to tackle challenges affecting teaching and learning, and engaging with learners to highlight the significance of education.
Mohai emphasised the importance of comprehensive understanding of prevailing circumstances and to offer support to schools to provide quality education.

He underscored the government’s dedication to enhancing educational outcomes, urging learners to pursue excellence.
Phaello Zonke, district education director, delivered an overview of the educational landscape in the district. Both notable achievements and areas requiring advancement were emphasised.
Elias Nkoane, deputy principal of Letsete Secondary School, provided insights into the school’s performance and developments.
Acting mayor of Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Mojalefa Buti, expressed gratitude to the School Governing Body, teachers, and community stakeholders for crucial support of learners. Proceedings were facilitated by Zanemvula Dingaan, programme director and circuit manager at the Department of Education in the district.
Ntakumbana, in conjunction with Absa, donated sanitary towels to Letsete Secondary School.
