Councillor Phindiwe Maseko has been elected executive mayor of Lejweleputswa District Municipality following the resignation of former mayor councillor Veronica Ntakumbana.
Maseko was elected unopposed after the council completed constitutional and legislative processes to appoint new leadership.
The municipality said the appointment comes as it works to improve service delivery, strengthen governance, restore public confidence and advance socio-economic development across the district.
Maseko has committed to promoting unity, ethical leadership, transparency and accelerated service delivery for residents.
The council thanked Ntakumbana for her service and called on communities and stakeholders to support the new leadership.
