Collaborative efforts between the Welkom K9 unit, security intelligence and the Ladybrand SARS customs led to a successful confiscation of counterfeit goods estimated to be more than R725 000. The Welkom K9 unit members received intelligence led information about foreign national businesses dealing in different kinds of illicit tobacco products and medicines in Welkom. The information was operationalised on Thursday, 10 July and the team conducted searches on the three identified foreign national businesses. “They found illicit tobacco products and medicines with an estimated worth of R725 000.
