Two suspects were arrested for the possession of crystal meth and Tai drugs after a high-speed chase in Welkom.
Members of the Welkom K9 unit spotted a yellow Toyota Passo parked suspiciously in Louis Street, Riebeeckstad, while performing crime prevention duties yesterday.
When the occupants of the Toyota saw the marked police vehicle coming their direction, the driver sped off and the police gave chase.
The vehicle was found in Camilla Street, next to well-known flats in the vicinity. The Toyota stopped and two occupants jumped from the vehicle.
They were apprehended by the police, and the following items were found in their possession: a black plastic bag containing three small zip lock bags containing what was suspected to be Tai drugs; and six packets containing what was suspected to be crystal meth – with a street value of R1 500.
The two suspects, aged 24 and 29 years old, were arrested for possession of suspected drugs.
