WELKOM – The finalists of the Mr and Miss Face of Matjhabeng pageant recently visited Huis Ougoud in Welkom, where they spent a memorable day with elderly residents, bringing gifts, entertainment, and companionship.
The visit formed part of the pageant’s commitment to community service, emphasising that being a role model extends beyond wearing a crown to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The visitors brought sweets, treats and fresh fruit for the residents. They also shared laughter, danced and entertained the elderly, creating a joyful atmosphere.
The finalists said the visit was particularly meaningful because the residents represented a generation that had helped build Welkom, raise families and lay the foundations for future generations.
The visit was meaningful
“Seeing the residents’ smiles reinforced the importance of spending time with older people and making them feel loved, valued and appreciated,” said Rito Madingana, pageant director.
A highlight of the visit was when residents asked the finalists to return, leaving the group grateful for the opportunity to share the day with them.
The Mr and Miss Face of Matjhabeng team thanked the Huis Ougoud staff and residents for their warm welcome and said they looked forward to visiting again.
As preparations continue for the grand finale, the organisers said their vision remained focused on leadership, service, community upliftment and inspiring the next generation.
Tickets for the pageant’s grand finale are still available, made available directly from the contestants.
The event will take place at Ferdi Meyer Hall on Tuesday 1 December, scheduled to start at 18:00.
The organisers have encouraged the community to support the finalists and attend the event as the next Mr and Miss Face of Matjhabeng are crowned.
