The annual Makiti Kontrei Festival is three years old and is one of the Amari School’s biggest fundraising projects. Approximately 9 000 people attended the fesitival this year. “Were it not for the dedicated support of our staff and volunteer crew, it could not have been such a success,” says Phillip Scott, principal of the Amari School. “Our sponsors and visitors also made this festival a success.” Amari is a school for severely mentally handicapped learners. There are currently 240 learners at the school.
