I am always amazed at the faith of children. The younger they are, the easier it is for them to trust that what they are being taught is truth. It is sad that as we grow and mature we find it harder to believe in simple truths which are fundamental to our faith in God.
We love the energy of children as they play and learn until they cannot bear the weight of heavy eyelids. Could it be that they are just unencumbered by anxiety over tomorrow or the failures of yesterday as we so often are?
In Matthew 18:3, Jesus teaches us: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of heaven.” The Amplified word says we need to become humble and forgiving like a child. What does that look like in a world that coerces even the most faithful to trust in themselves, money, or the government?
Israel faced what seemed like insurmountable odds many times but as they trusted God and walked in obedience, they were never defeated or put to shame. Whether they were to trust as in 2 Samuel 5:24 for the sound of the Lord’s army going before them to defeat the Philistines, or for daily manna in the wilderness, God was faithful to protect and provide for them.
Times have changed and we no longer fight physical giants, however the word of God is constant. In 1 Peter 5:7 we read, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
May we all know and experience the faithfulness of God as we trust him with our own giants.
