Local rider Hanno van Jaarsveldt delivered a standout performance at the Sanesa South African Championships, returning home as a three-time champion in working riding.
Riding Storm Rider, Hanno secured three South African championship titles in 2026, adding to an already impressive record at the prestigious event.
In the individual competitions, Hanno claimed first place in the 90 cm two-phase class, earning the title of national champion for 2026. He also took first place in the Open 90 cm equitation, securing another national championship title.
His success continued in working riding level 7, where Hanno finished first. He also placed second in the A2 Speed 90 cm class and finished fourth in Working Hunter.
As a member of the Free State team, Hanno helped secure first place in A2 Speed, second place in two-phase, second place in working riding, and first place in equitation.

One of the highlights of the championships was Hanno and Storm Rider’s remarkable record in Working Riding. The combination has now won the Working Riding South African Championship for three consecutive years.
Their latest performance was particularly impressive, with Hanno and Storm Rider achieving a 100% score across all obstacles at this year’s national championships.
The results underline the pair’s consistency, skill and strong partnership, while Hanno’s contribution also played an important role in the Free State team’s successful showing at the national championships.
With three individual national titles and a series of strong team results, Hanno’s 2026 Sanesa campaign proved to be another memorable chapter in his equestrian career.
