The Mediclinic Welkom has partnered with the Bongani Regional Hospital in an effort to help reduce the growing backlog of orthopaedic surgeries in the Welkom community.

The initiative forms part of the Mediclinic Welkom’s corporate social investment programme, which aims to improve access to specialist healthcare through collaboration with public health institutions.

As part of the partnership, orthopaedic surgeon Dr Tiro Rooi, assisted by anaesthetist Dr Qwaba Mokoena, performed orthopaedic procedures on patients at the Bongani Regional Hospital.

According to Mediclinic Welkom, the collaboration is intended to support the public healthcare sector by assisting patients who have been waiting for orthopaedic surgery, while helping to ease pressure on hospital services.

The hospital said the initiative reflected its commitment to improving healthcare in the community through partnerships that expand access to specialist medical care where it is needed most.

By working alongside the Bongani Regional Hospital, the Mediclinic Welkom hopes to make a meaningful contribution to reducing waiting times and improving patient outcomes for residents requiring orthopaedic treatment.
