Anonymous, Golding Street:
I really feel sorry for the elderly couple residing in the area where there is always a noise over the weekend, which starts in the early hours of the mornings and extends to Mondays.
It is really sad that they have had no help at all, even though they have reported this to the police last year November. It seems like even the police cannot stop the neighbour.
These young people, about 20 or 30 of them, only come to this house after all gathering places have closed for the night. The street are packed with their cars, where they would open their boots and play loud music.
I challenge those high profile police officers to come and patrol the area from 01:00 and see how overcrowded this place is.
I raise this concern, as a young person of Bronville, because I also have parents and I would not like to see this happening to them.
I just wonder how the police can leave a person to continue with such, whereas licensed gathering spots know what time they need to close.
What is surprising is that the elderly couple have opened cases since November – however, on 6 April the complainant went to follow-up on these cases, only to find out that they were not listed on their system.
Now I would like to know whether the Bronville people have their own court and magistrate? I am asking this because of those cases that were not found on the system. If they had their own court and magistrate, how can they just take decisions without the complainant’s input?
I do not think this would have continued if there was an official staying in the same area, or if the elderly couple were the parents or relatives of an official.
I read, listen to and watch the news on TV and radio, and am disheartened that most of the crimes or unfairness that happens in South Africa are never resolved or brought to an end. Even when going through the proper channels.
As a young person of Bronville, we need help otherwise my parents and I may see ourselves being the next victims. We need someone that can help with the noise disturbance in Bronville every weekend.
