The police in Odendalsrus and stakeholders conducted a school-based awareness campaign at the Eldoret High School on Thursday 23 April, reaching 317 female learners with messages on crime prevention and safety.
The initiative, which started at 12:00, forms part of National Instruction 6 of 2022 on Partnership Policing and the Safety Framework. The campaign focused on protecting and empowering the girl child.

A multidisciplinary team delivered the programme, comprising Social Crime Prevention, the Domestic Violence unit, the Department of Correctional Services, a social worker of the Department of Education, a representative of Ex-Offenders (Odendalsrus), and Pastor Sejake of the NG Kerk Block 4 (Spiritual Crime Prevention).
Sejake opened the session with a prayer and scripture reading.
Learners received information on bullying, teenage pregnancy, behavioural challenges, possession of dangerous weapons, consequences of victimisation, and substance abuse.
The campaign placed particular focus on cyberbullying, addressing its harmful impact and legal implications.
Presenters also covered provisions of the Child Justice Act, educating learners on accountability and consequences of criminal activities. The session encouraged learners to prioritise their well-being, foster mutual respect, and support one another.
Members of the police force in Odendaalsrus said it remains committed to strengthening partnerships and implementing proactive initiatives aimed at creating safer school environments.
