Drug dealers and gang members were removed from the streets of Odendaalsrus during a police sting operation.
On 24 August, the Welkom Public Order Policing Unit followed up on information about suspects selling drugs in K9 section of Kutloanong.
Two female suspects aged 24 and 38 were found in possession of drugs during a search done in separate houses in the area.
The police found five full Mandrax tablets, three crystal meth sachets and R50 cash hidden in the ceiling.
At the second house, eight crystal meth sachets and two quarters of Mandrax tablets were seized.
The patrol continued and seven male suspects aged between 23 and 39 years old were found in possession of dangerous weapons.
The suspects informed the police members that they were on their way to the Odendaalsrus Magistrates’ Court and that they are part of the Born to kill (BTK) gang.
The police drove to the Magistrates’ Court premises where three more butcher knives were found abandoned at the Northern side of the court premises.
