Welkom Aquatics held its annual prize giving on Saturday 9 May, celebrating the achievements, dedication, and growth of its swimmers throughout the season.
The evening brought together swimmers, parents, committee members, and supporters for a memorable celebration filled with pride, laughter, and recognition for hard work both in and out of the pool.
Awards were presented across various age groups and categories, recognising outstanding performances, commitment, sportsmanship, and personal improvement throughout the season.
The club’s main title winners were:
■ Junior Girl: Mia Vorster;
■ Junior Boy: Levi Bouwer;
■ Senior Girl: Ashley Seymour;
■ Senior Boy: Drake O’Tool;
■ Best Overall Swimmer: Drake O’Tool;
■ Most Dedicated Swimmer: Dirk Vermaak;
■ Most Improved Boy: Dirk Vermaak; and
■ Most Improved Girl: Lynise Erasmus.
Welkom Aquatics spokesperson Donna van Wyk thanked everyone involved at the club for their continued support and commitment.
“Swimming is about far more than medals and results. It’s about discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and personal growth,” she said.

“We are incredibly proud of every swimmer and grateful to our parents, committee, and supporters who make it all possible.”
The club also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of its committee members: Louie O’Tool, Cheryl Seymour, LeeAnne Erasmus, Huibre Bouwer, Amber O’Tool, Lulama Brooms and Renette Vermaak.
