The Odendaalsrus SAPS conducted a school search at Phehello Secondary School.

The Odendaalsrus police’s Social Crime Prevention unit, visible policing members, the Department of Correctional Services and the Department of Education conducted a search at the Phehello Secondary School on 22 April.

The school safety officer facilitated the campaign. Law enforcement searched the school premises and approximately 1 123 learners. Officers confiscated several prohibited items, including small packets of dagga, e-cigarettes, a knife and snuff.

The operation included discussions with learners about substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, domestic violence, bullying, gangsterism, dangerous weapons and assault.

The SAPS said it would continue working with stakeholders to improve school safety.
