Welkom’s RCFA Bhubezi Fight Club has officially reopened for 2026, building on a successful 2025 marked by competitive achievements and steady athlete development. This year the club is preparing for further international participation, including the World Championships in England in August and Namibia in October.
Another goal for 2026 is for Sensei Joe Gladstone Ralejoe to focus on developing officials alongside athletes in 2026.
With Ralejoe recently appointed as the RCFA Free State Provincial Head, the club aims to strengthen officiating and leadership within the sport at a provincial level.
The club recently issued its December grading results, with four students advancing to new belt levels.

Their achievements are captured in a powerful photograph featuring the students seated with medals earned throughout the year, grading certificates raised proudly, and trophies collected across multiple tournaments displayed at their feet.
A major highlight for the club is the selection of students into the Presidential Team, earning the opportunity to represent South Africa at the RCFA World Championships in April at the Emerald Casino.
The club will also expand its programmes with the launch of the Simba Class for children aged seven to 12 years, focused on instilling confidence, establishing discipline, and basic self-defence.
“Teamwork has been set as the club’s defining theme for 2026. Under the banner ‘We Rise As One,’ the Bhubezi Fight Club continues to promote unity, growth, and shared success on and off the mat,” says Ralejoe.
Also, as part of its 2026 goals, the Bhubezi Fight Club plans to launch school tours across the province, promoting safety, anti-bullying awareness, and practical self-defence skills.
These programmes aim to empower students, equipping them with life skills, and further strengthening partnerships between the club, schools, and the wider community.
