Matrics throughout the Goldfields have celebrated the culmination of their school career with outstanding results in the 2025 final exams.
The Class of 2025 at the Wessel Maree High School in Odendaalsrus attained a 97,5% pass rate, with 85% earning a bachelor’s degree (BA) pass rate. Dihani Müller obtained seven distinctions. She is one of the Free State’s top100 matrics and attained distictions for Afrikaans (home language, 89%), English (first additional language, 88%), Life Sciences (91%), Mathematics (85%), Accounting (90%), Physical Sciences (82%), and Life Orientation (93%).

The High School Hentie Cilliers in Virginia boasts with a 95,5% pass rate.
The top achievers are Caitlin Scheepers (distinctions in Afrikaans, English, Business Studies, Consumer Studies, and Life Orientation), Zandile Mtyinagizane (distinctions in Afrikaans, Life Sciences, Life Orientation, and Accounting), Janrich Wessels (distinctions in Afrikaans, Agricultural Technology, and Life Orientation), and Mosa Segalo (Afrikaans, Life Sciences, and Life Orientation).

The matric class of 2025 at the Welkom Technical High School (THS) attained a 92,13% pass rate, making it the number one technical high school in the Lejweleputswa District.
The school presented 16 subjects and attained a 100% pass rate for English, Afrikaans, Technical Science, Construction Fitting and Turning, Metalwork, Power Systems, Automotive and Life Orientation.

The matric candidates obtained above 90% for Engineering Graphics Design (EGD), English, and Technical Mathematics. The candidates attained above 80% for Physical Science and Electronics, and above 70% for Mathematics.
The Riebeeckstad High School got a 80.5% pass rate, with five distinctions overall.
Michelle Mokoena attained 75% (one distinction), Kananeleo Moletsane 74% (two); and Karabo Chalele 72% (two).
