The Odendaalsrus Regional Court has sentenced a 55-year-old man to life imprisonment for the rape of his biological daughter.

The sentencing stems from an incident reported on Thursday 25 August 2022, in Allanridge. The court heard how the victim was sexually violated by her father during the period from January 2022 until August 2022.

The victim, who was aged 17 at the time, relocated to stay with her father in January 2022. Two days after her arrival at her father’s house, the victim slept in the lounge whilst her father slept in the bedroom.

This arrangement changed after the father told the victim that they could share the bed.

The court heard how the father undressed and raped the victim on several occasions. The sexual abuse continued weekly from January until the information was leaked and the matter was reported to police in August 2022.
