The gruesome discovery of the badly decomposed body of a baby boy has sent shockwaves through Rheederpark in Welkom.

On Thursday, 5 June, the Welkom police was summoned to a block of flats in this suburb, after residents had discovered the child wrapped in a white blanket, inside a black plastic bag. The baby, roughly between eight and ten months old, was wearing a beige jacket, a grey top, a yellow onesie vest, and a disposable baby diaper.
