THE Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality received an award for being one of the Greenest Cities in South Africa in 2020.

In an effort to uphold these standards and a healthy environment, Councillor Lance Grootboom, a member of the mayoral committee for Public Health, along with other officials from the directorate, visited certain areas of the metropole to encourage residents to take out their refuse on the specific day and time of collection.

This comes after it was found that, some residents in the area place their refuse out late in the day, after the trucks have completed their rounds.

Residents will be fined an amount of R2 000 for taking out their refuse outside their collection round.
