A pedestrian was killed and another injured after being hit by a car shortly after a collision between two vehicles on the R75 last night, March 13.

Police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, said that the accident took place at approximately 22:00 at the intersection at the Bayland bus depot.

A maroon Ford Ranger bakkie that was travelling on the R75, collided with a white Quantum minibus crossing the road. In the process, two unknown pedestrians at the intersection were also hit by one of the spinning vehicles.

“One of the pedestrians, a male, estimated age to be 40 years, died on the scene and the other male pedestrian was rushed to Dora Nginza Hospital with serious injuries,” Beetge explained.

“A culpable homicide case was opened and is being investigated by Despatch SAPS,” he said.
