NEW Horizons Challenged Movement (NHCM) will be hosting a pageant for disabled people at the Allanridge Civic Centre in Uitenhage on November 29 to empower and instil confidence in those that are handicapped.

Jabu Khane, secretary of the organisation for the physically disabled people said the pageant titled #weareable is a way of encouraging handicapped people to fight for their rights and stand up for themselves.

“We want people to know that disability does not meant inability. Our voice is still silenced, and our opinions are not heard. Our hope is for all disabled people to stand up for their rights,” she said.

Khane said the organisation which was established in 2017 would like more disabled people to enter the pageant before the closing date which is on October 27.
