For decades residents of Kariega, Despatch and surrounding areas were wondering whether the promised new shopping mall would ever materialise. Now, finally, the Keystone Group is proud to announce that stores at Corkwood Square, the new shopping mall, will open their doors today at 08:00.
“Situated centrally between Kariega, Despatch and KwaNobuhle the shopping mall will cater to the diverse demographic group surrounding it. The mall will bring many new tenants to the area as well as consolidate the current retail offering into a new, modern, and safe environment for shoppers to enjoy,” said Holger Peens, CEO of Keystone Investments.
“Anchor tenants include Checkers, Dischem, Woolworths and Boxer. With several national fashion tenants, restaurants and banks already committed the mall is destined to become the prime shopping node in the community owing to its superior location, tenant mix and modern design.”
Situated on the major feeder road connecting Despatch, KwaNobuhle and Kariega and a new traffic light intersection already constructed, the mall is easily accessible for public and private vehicles. A roofed taxi rank with direct escalator and lift access to the mall has been provided to ensure the comfort of taxi commuters.
“Over and above the substantial financial investment and the multitude of positive benefits for the area it is expected that the development created 1 500 temporary jobs during construction and after completion 500 permanent jobs,” said Peens.
The grand opening and official ribbon cutting of Corkwood Square is at 07:45 today with the shops opening their doors at 08:00.
