HEALTHCARE workers and COVID-19 patients at the Rev. Dr Elizabeth Mamisa Chabula-Nxiweni Field Hospital and Uitenhage Provincial Hospital received a donation of more than 600 care packages and two microwaves from the Shoprite Group last week.

The packages – containing snacks, water and essential toiletries like soap and waterless hand sanitisers – were distributed along with greeting cards specially drawn by children from early childhood development centres supported by Shoprite.

“I would like to thank the Shoprite Group for their continued support,” said Ulungile Sontyale, Acting CEO of the Rev Dr Nxiweni Field Hospital. “It has been a tough year for our healthcare workers, and it’s good to know that we are not alone in this fight.”

“Since the start of this pandemic, we have donated more than 9 000 care packages to health facilities across the country. At Shoprite we place great value on the communities we serve, and we will continue to support those impacted by this pandemic,” commented Lunga Schoeman, CSI Manager for the Shoprite Group.
