South African rugby fans are in for a musical treat as a local artist with almost seven million streams across all music platforms, Buhle Gayika, better known by his stage name Booshle G, prepares to take centre stage before every Springbok home match during the upcoming Castle Lager test series.
The performer will be touring with the Springboks, performing at six iconic venues across the country, including Loftus Stadium, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Mbombela Stadium, Ellis Park Stadium, DHL Stadium, and Kings Park Stadium.
As the final act before kick-off, Booshle G will have the honour of being the last performer to take the stage before the Springboks run onto the field, creating an unforgettable pre-game experience that combines the best of South African music and rugby culture.
Sharing with UD Express, Gayika said, “I feel extremely honoured to be chosen to perform for the Springboks. Coming from a small town like Kariega, I always believe that it’s not about where you come from, it’s about what is inside you that matters most.
“To be part of the Springbok experience, with so many talented individuals coming from humble beginnings and doing absolutely great things on a national level, I feel honoured to be able to contribute to that.”
Gayika added that opportunities like performing at national events, such as the Castle Lager test series or the SA20 cricket tournament that he performed at, don’t come easily. He said consistency is the secret behind his recent success. “It’s all about being consistent in putting yourself out there,” he said.
“If you have a message or something to offer, the only way to grow is to offer what you have consistently and without letting fear hinder your growth. Believing in something bigger than myself and my abilities has helped me reach the highs I have reached.”
Gayika shared that being approached by the organisers to perform before the Springboks’ games was a surprise.
“I believe that my agent was approached with this idea because of the performance we had in the SA20 final. I also believe it is because of all the work that we have put in that is starting to bear fruit. Also, there’s a famous quote that I live by, which is, ‘build it and the people will come.’
“For me, I have learnt that one just needs to build a genuine atmosphere and the right people will come. For us, it is important to build a truly South African environment for our audience; one that our people can be proud of.”
In his words, Gayika aims to “create a truly South African experience through music; something that he believes South Africans can be proud of and for the world to discover.”
July 13 will mark Gayika’s anniversary since pursuing music.
Having reached almost 7 million streams on all music platforms, with hit songs like Take Me Home, Best Life and Broken Hearts, this feat has earned him success in the form of signing to a global record label, Nettwerk, and touring in Europe with the likes of Canadian pop duo, Neon Dreams.

Excited to perform the day before his anniversary, July 12 from 15:00 in his hometown, Gayika calls upon all residents to come in numbers to support the Springboks as they face Italy at the Castle Lager test series.
