“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that the Klinicare Wings and Wheels Festival will be postponed as the situation with COVID-19 is constantly changing.”

This is according to Nico Eyre from Klinicare Despatch Pharmacy, the main sponsor of the popular Wings & Wheels Festival, which this year, for the first time ever would have had the Goodyear Eagles acrobatic Pitt Special aeroplanes at the event.

After President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered his statement to the nation he declared that gatherings of 100 people or more as well as non-essential domestic travel are totally prohibited. The South African government has declared the COVID-19 pandemic a state national disaster.

“Taking all of these facts into consideration, we cannot go forward with the Klinicare Wings & Wheels Festival.

“The COVID-19 pattern of change is occurring worldwide with one country after the other taking increasing restrictive action to contain the spread of the virus.

“The decision to postpone the festival was not taken lightly, but we have to protect the health and wealth of the people attending as well as that of the artists and pilots.

“We do apologize for the inconvenience, but will make the new date public as soon as possible,” said Eyre.

The eighth annual Klinicare Wings & Wheels Festival would have been hosted at the Uitenhage Airfield on Saturday, April 4.
