SAPS detectives have launched a manhunt for suspects after a councillor and his secretary were murdered at approximately noon yesterday, May 2 in KwaNobuhle.
According to police reports, the 45-year-old councilor was coming out of his house together with the 41-year-old male secretary at the time of the incident. It is alleged that as they approached their vehicle, a Quantum minibus drove towards them and began firing several shots, killing them at the scene.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brig. Tembinkosi Kinana, said that the Quantum vehicle sped off after the incident.
“The number of suspects in the drive-by shooting Quantum is not known at this stage. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation. Murder cases have been registered and no arrest made at this stage,” Kinana said.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect(s), to make contact with the nearest police station or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
