The iconic Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon has unveiled an exciting initiative to help runners prepare for the 2026 race, announcing six official training runs that will take place across South Africa in the lead-up to the main event.
The training runs, which are exclusively available to entrants of the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, are designed to foster camaraderie and connection within the running community while providing structured race preparation.
“These training runs are about more than just race preparation,” said Chris Goldschmidt, chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC. “They’re an opportunity for runners to connect, share the excitement, and grow together as a community united by their passion for running and the spirit of the Two Oceans Marathon.”
The training programme will span three months, offering runners in major centres the opportunity to participate:
• 25 January 2026 – Cape Town
• 1 February 2026 – Johannesburg
• 8 February 2026 – Durban
• 22 February 2026 – Cape Town
• 8 March 2026 – Pretoria
• 22 March 2026 – Stellenbosch
Each training run will offer two route options – 21km and 12km – catering to runners of different fitness levels and race goals.
The best news for runners is that all training runs are completely free of charge. However, advance registration is mandatory as spaces will be limited to ensure quality experiences for all participants.
Wade Bromfield, general manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, emphasised the importance of early planning. “By announcing these dates now, we’re helping runners plan their training schedules and stay motivated throughout their preparation journey. We’re working closely with partnering running clubs to ensure these events are exciting, inclusive, and truly community-focused.”
Exclusive benefits for 2026 entrants
The training runs are just one of several enhancements planned for the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon. All marathon entrants will receive exclusive TTOM t-shirts and limited-edition socks, with additional rewards planned for Blue Number Club members.
How to get involved
Specific start venues for each training run will be announced closer to the dates on the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon’s social media channels. Runners are encouraged to follow the event on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates and registration information.
