Goodwood police are investigating a murder and four counts of attempted murder after a shooting accident on Thursday 14 September at about 20:00. Capt Wayne Theunis, spokesperson at Goodwood police, confirmed a 31-year-old man died and four people were wounded.
The incident occurred at the corner of Voortrekker and Hamilton Street.
“According to available information the motive appears to be robbery,” says Theunis.
Provincial police spokesperson Capt Frederick van Wyk said the four others injured are aged between eight and 25 years.
“The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Suspects fled the scene on foot,” says Van Wyk.
John Ross, chair of the Goodwood Community Policing Forum (CPF), said any theories at this stage is speculation without reason. No arrests were made.
