The City of Cape Town will carry out road resurfacing and maintenance work at various locations across the Blaauwberg District from until 11 December. Work started on Tuesday 13 October.
The work forms part of the City’s ongoing road maintenance programme and will include resurfacing, footway repairs, regravelling, verge maintenance and repairs to existing road infrastructure.
According to the City’s Mayco member for urban mobility, Rob Quintas, the work is aimed at maintaining Cape Town’s road network and keeping traffic moving.
“This work forms part of the City’s ongoing road maintenance programme and will include road resurfacing, footway repairs, regravelling, verge maintenance and repairs to our existing road infrastructure,” said Quintas.
He said maintenance teams would generally work from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 15:30.
In Century City, however, work will take place at night, between 19:30 and 05:00, to minimise disruption to daytime traffic.
“We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation while we complete this essential maintenance work across the Blaauwberg District, all part of how we keep Cape Town moving,” he said.

In Blouberg Sands, resurfacing and maintenance will take place along Sandown Road, between West Coast Road and Windlass Way. In Bloubergstrand, work is planned for Popham Street, between Blue Peter and Verkouteren Street, as well as Sir David Baird Drive.

Other work includes repairs to existing handrails along Omuramba Road in Joe Slovo Park, resurfacing Chris Hani Street in Witsand between Ntlolokotshane Street and Mnga Street, and regravelling Honeyvale Road in the Cape Farms area, between the R304 and the surfaced section.
In Table View, the City will maintain the existing paved footway along Marine Drive. Verge maintenance and road-edge improvements are planned for Marine Drive in Paarden Eiland, about 700m north of the Salt River Bridge. Holland Street in Atlantis is also scheduled for resurfacing.
