AFM Welfare treated residents of the AFM Sarepta Old Age Home to a winter sports day on Wednesday 24 June. The event was held at the old church building adjacent to the home, which serves as the base for community health service Graceful Care Unlimited.
Social auxiliary worker Victorino Manuel said the event was hosted in partnership with several stakeholders. “We want to show that health, joy, and connection don’t have an age limit. Our goal is to share positive stories that uplift and inspire the community, with a special focus on our elderly,” he said.
Activities and inspiration
Manuel, who led proceedings, drew on the story of “The Three Little Pigs” to illustrate the value of support structures. Residents voluntarily took part in a range of activities, from peeling potatoes to races and a mind puzzle, with entertainment and inspirational messages in between. Carers from Graceful Care Unlimited assisted residents throughout.
Avbob sponsored water to keep everyone hydrated. The morning ended on a sweet note with cake and treats sponsored by Goosebumps.
