- One suspect has been arrested in connection with a murder which occurred in Goodwood on Thursday, 14 September.
- The shooting incident, in which an 8-year-old child was wounded, claimed the life of one person.
- The 27-year-old suspect was apprehended at Blue Downs court, where he appeared on an unrelated case.
A commitment to solve a crime and arrest the suspect is what led to the arrest of a murder suspect.
On Thursday 14 September at about 20:00 a shooting incident occurred at the corners of Hamilton Street and Voortrekker Road, Goodwood, which resulted in one person dying and two others critically injured. An 8-year-old child was also wounded during the incident.

According to Capt Wayne Theunis, spokesperson at Goodwood police, during the investigation, the investigating officer, Sgt Bongani Nkombisa, exhausted all avenues in tracing the suspect. After using the police systems Nkombisa was informed by a neighbouring station that the suspect would be appearing in the Bluedowns Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 8 November.
On Wednesday 8 November Sgt Nkombisa and detective Const Sibulele Mbuko went to Bluedowns Court where the 27-year-old suspect was arrested for murder and four counts of attempted murder.
The Goodwood Detective Commander, Lt Col Ricuss Boshoff, commended Sergeant Nkombisa for excellent investigation which removed a dangerous criminal from society.
