An accident on the M19 at the Mamre Road intersection near Melkbosstrand claimed the life of a passenger on Saturday.
This was after a collision between two vehicles with a total of eight passengers.
According to Community Medics who rushed to the scene, seven of the passengers were transported by various ambulance services to nearby hospitals, “but sadly one patient was declared deceased on the scene”.
The cause of the accident remains unclear.
The City of Cape Town fire and rescue services was in the process of assessing and triaging on the scene and Community Medics proceeded in treating the passengers.
“The scene was then handed over to the police for further investigation,” they say in a statement.
“Our condolences to the friends and family of the deceased and we wish all the injured a speedy recovery.”
