The De Grendel Lions Club in Edgemead recently celebrated the induction of its new president for the 2026-’27 term. Jacques Mostert, who has served the organisation for several years, was unanimously elected by club members at a function held at the Tygerberg Art School in Parow.

Herman Laubscher, Lions District 410-W newly elected district governor, congratulated and wished him well for the coming year. He mentioned the club’s long-standing record of proud community service.

Laubscher presented Mostert with his personal handmade district governor’s lapel pin.

Past president Glenda Hon thanked club members for the outstanding work during the 2025-’26 year and presented club members with certificates of appreciation and awards. The Lion of the Year Award was awarded to treasurer Ronell Fourie.

Mostert, in his speech, thanked club members for their confidence and trust in him to be elected as their new president. He mentioned that with the calibre of people serving in the club, it will only go from strength to strength.
