Police seized about 500 mandrax tablets worth R20 000 and a CZ 9mm firearm with the serial number filed off during a raid on a house in Voorbrug, Delft.
On Friday 25 September officers from Delft police and the City’s LEAP team acted on a tip-off about drug sales in Fairhaven Road and searched the premises, where they found the drugs and firearm.
A 30-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Delft police station.
Steenberg arrest
In a separate operation, Anti-Gang Unit officers arrested a 27-year-old man in Steenberg on Thursday 24 September after finding a 9mm pistol with 17 rounds of ammunition hidden in a plastic-wrapped Styrofoam container at a house in Beethoven Street.
He was arrested and detained at Steenberg police station.
Both firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to check whether they were used in other crimes.
The suspects are due to appear in the Bellville and Wynberg Magistrates’ courts on Monday 28 September.
