While the City of Cape Town boasted record crowds at its swimming facilities and beaches over the past months, it deprived local and neighbouring areas the use of the Goodwood swimming pool.
The problem is not new, it is not major, and could easily have been done before the open season. Yet, during the entire period, a very limited number of persons were afforded the opportunity to do training or practice in the later afternoons.
This, incidentally, necessitated the use of a vast quantity of chemicals on each occasion. I’d like to know the cost this incurred, the loss of revenue for the entire season and what financial income arose.
For years, council has refused to repair surrounding area pools, and the state of our local pool is nothing less than a disgrace.
