The wall along Koeberg Road which has become well-known for the paintings of Table View High matrics, has been refurbished.
This is thanks to a project in Ward 113, funded by the Mayoral Urban Regeneration Project (Murp) which has been allocated to Ward 113, says councillor Joy Solomons.
“The wall was looking very shabby and the pictures painted so long ago by the matrics of Table View High were flaking and peeling. As it is at the entrance to Ward 113 and made the area look unkempt and uncared for, it was decided to refurbish and repaint this wall,” Solomons says.
The project was carried out under the auspices of Potsdam Waste Water Treatment Manager Rajan Moodley, with the allocated funds.
“The result is a great improvement, I’m sure you will agree,” Solomons says.
Residents, including motorists and pedestrians, welcomed the new “look”, sharing their opinions via social media.
“Koeberg Road has always been known for illegal traders and waste laying everywhere. I’m happy that our councillors are finally beautifying this space,” a Facebook post reads.
A resident, Carly Abrahams, says she was shocked when walking past the wall.
It was really a sight for sore eyes. The wall before was not looking great and needed some desperate attention. Well done to all involved . . . it really looks great,” she says.
