Learners from 34 schools engaged in citizenship programme in Cape Town

Learners from 34 Western Cape schools visited the Cape Town Civic Centre as part of the Adventures Into Citizenship Learner Engagement 2026 programme.

The learners explored the many opportunities available within the City.

From bursaries and internships to learnerships, youth leadership programmes and career pathways, learners discovered how they can build a future in local government while making a difference in their communities.

Scarse skills fields

“With City bursary applications opening in August and September, learners are encouraged to start preparing now and consider studying in scarce skills fields such as engineering, IT, data science, environmental management, urban planning, accounting and more,” says Theresa Uys, Mayco member for corporate services.
