The Kleinvlei police‘s Spiritual Crime Prevention unit will host a three-day community event from 24 to 26 September 2026, bringing together religious leaders, faith-based organisations, community-based organisations, community stakeholders, and other organisations committed to making a positive difference in the community.
Creating a platform
The three-day programme aims to create a platform where different sectors of the community can come together, build stronger partnerships, and work collectively to address crime and social challenges affecting local communities.
According to Constable Ryan Maarman, coordinator of the event, they are encouraging all community stakeholders to participate. “A variety of programmes and activities will take place throughout the three days, with the focus on community engagement, spiritual intervention, crime prevention, awareness, youth involvement, unity, and strengthening community partnerships. The event is not simply about attending programmes, but about getting actively involved and becoming part of a collective effort to bring meaningful change. We want your organisation there. Every organisation has something valuable to contribute, and by working together we can make a greater impact in our communities,” says Maarman.
Stronger networks
Maarman believes that crime prevention requires more than one organisation or sector working alone. “By bringing together the police, religious community, community organisations, civil society, and other stakeholders, stronger networks can be established to identify challenges and develop practical responses. The three-day event will also provide an opportunity for organisations to share their ideas, resources, experiences, and programmes while exploring ways of working together beyond the event. We encourage organisations to become actively involved and bring their members and leadership to the programme. The initiative’s message is clear: ‘When communities stand together, they become stronger,’” he says.
