Junior Campus leads ‘Walk Against Child Abuse’ in Kuils River

Junior Campus Private School in Kuils River hosted a ‘Walk Against Child Abuse’ on Friday 15 May, drawing together learners, staff, and community members in a united stand for vulnerable children.

The walk set off from the school at 10:00, with participants invited to wear blue. Entrants had to donate non-perishable food items as their entry contribution. All donations will go to social service provider, Badisa Kuils River.

Principal Erica Venter said the event was held to raise awareness about the realities faced by children in the area and to support Badisa in their work with vulnerable children.

Good turnout

The turnout was encouraging, with metro police officers, ward councillors Wouter de Vos and Kariena Maré, and learners and staff from several neighbouring schools joining in, including De Kuilen Primary, Mikro Primary, Krielie-kleuterskool, Junior Campus Pre-School, Junior Kiddies Campus, and Haasendal Kiddies Campus.

The food donation drive also received a generous response from the community. “It was such a positive event with a valuable lesson for all learners attending,” said Venter. “Our learners are the future, and they need to learn from a young age how to support each other and reach out in times of need.”

The school extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the event a success.
