A colourful rock snake is taking shape in Camoens Park, Monte Vista. Visitors to the area and residents are encouraged to take part in the initiative as the idea behind it is to extend the snake as long as possible.

The project is the brainchild of the Monte Vista Plattekloof Ratepayers and Residents Association. The initiative was started last week.

“The rock snake named ‘Bellatrix’ has finally come to life and the aim is that we eventually exceed the record of over 10 000 painted rocks creating the body of Bellatrix.

“This is another first for Monte Vista and Plattekloof Glen spear headed by myself and Kelvin Irvine. The association has always been at the forefront of bringing wonderful initiatives to our area and we invite everyone to join in the fun and come and place your rock to set new records,” explains Tyrel Painczyk, chair of the association.

Visitors are encourged to take note of the signs reading: “Meet ‘Bellatrix’ our rock snake. Add to me and watch me grow,” and “Please do not remove me”.
