A team of Buchu Collection employees, the new owners of Lichtenburg Farm and Grootfontein Farm in Durbanville, dedicated their 67 minutes on Mandela Day to making a difference in the local community of Fisantekraal.

The team prepared a total of 100 Jars of Hope on Friday 17 July — each jar containing all the dry ingredients needed to make a nourishing soup or stew.

“Collectively, these 100 jars have the potential to provide approximately 400 meals for those in need,” says Danielle Cronje, head of environment and community partnership at Buchu Collection.

The Jars of Hope were donated to Lizzy’s Soup Kitchen and Aletta’s Soup Kitchen in Greenville, Fisantekraal.

“These soup kitchens provide hundreds of meals to local residents every week,” says Cronje.

“While this contribution represents a modest gesture, it marks the beginning of what Buchu Collection hopes will become a lasting relationship with these community initiatives and a commitment to making meaningful contributions in the future,” she says.

Deep commitment

“Although our core business spans property, hospitality and several other exciting ventures, our purpose extends beyond this. At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to community upliftment — creating positive social impact and supporting environmental sustainability.

“We believe that lasting success is measured not only by business achievements but also by the positive difference we make in the communities where we live and work,” Cronje says.
