Goodwood library opened its doors on Tuesday 1 March after it had been closed since the lockdown in 2020 because there was no ventilation in the building.

“We started with a drop-and-collect service in November 2020, and had a limited preselection of books on trolleys available in the foyer of the library. The ventilation issue was addressed in February and we are now again fully open to the public with all our services in place,” says Minda Maritz, chief librarian.

With the library fully open, the public are allowed to come in and browse through all the books on the shelves again.

“This week we are celebrating National Library Week and patrons are encouraged to return their books and they will not pay any fines as it is a fine-free week. We are also planning a holiday programme for the children from Monday 28 March until Friday April 1, but the programme is not finalised yet. People are welcome to phone us for more information on 021 444 7326/27,” says Maritz.
