Flames emerged from the roof of a building at the Milnerton Golf Club last night (17 February), while waiting for the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue team to attend to the fire.

According to the City’s Fire and Rescue spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, the team was alerted at 19:35 of the incident.

“A total of 21 firefighters were on the scene – three fire engines, aerial appliance, water tanker and a rescue vehicle,” Carelse says.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and pending investigation.

No injuries were reported.

The extent of the damage remains unknown, with Carelse confirming that the fire was extinguished at 21:58.

The recent fires raging in Table View and Milnerton areas are threatening homes and animals in the residential area, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA says in a statement.
