After years of determination, grit and effort by the wheelchair-bound residents themselves, the Andries Olivier Durbanville Quadriplegic Centre (HAO) has secured its first title sponsor ever for its popular HAO Golf Classic.

The centre is proud to announce that Approach Profit Managers, a Durbanville-based financial services firm with strong ties to the local business community, has come on board as the title sponsor of the 2026 HAO Golf Classic scheduled to take place on Thursday, 22 October.

“This exciting partnership marks an important milestone for the centre. The sponsorship, which includes green fees, levies, catering and branded gear, shows Approach Profit Managers’ commitment to supporting community initiatives that promote independence and dignity for people with disabilities,” says Rosabelle Riese, a resident and one of the organisers of the golf day.

Work from their wheelchairs

“For the residents of HAO this support carries particular meaning. For many years the golf day has been organised largely by residents themselves – men and women living with quadriplegia and paraplegia who work tirelessly from their wheelchairs to plan, coordinate and host the event. From securing players and prizes to managing logistics and sponsorship requests, the preparation has always required determination, creativity and many hours of effort,” she says.

“Securing a title sponsor for the first time is therefore not only a practical boost for the event, but also a powerful acknowledgement of the perseverance and commitment shown by the residents over many years. The partnership with Approach Profit Managers will enable the centre to strengthen the event and expand its impact in support of residents and the centre’s long-term sustainability,” Riese says.

Heartfelt appreciation

Huis Andries Olivier expressed heartfelt appreciation for the partnership. “We are deeply grateful to the team at Approach Profit Managers for their confidence in HAO. This sponsorship represents far more than support for a single event. It is an investment in independence, community and the future sustainability of our centre,” she concludes.

Huis Andries Olivier, situated in Durbanville, is a unique self-managed residential centre for quadriplegic and paraplegic residents. The residents themselves take responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of the centre, demonstrating that disability need not limit leadership, independence or community contribution.

Most important fundraising initiative

The HAO Golf Classic has become one of the centre’s most important fundraising initiatives and continues to attract strong participation from businesses and supporters across the Western Cape.

Preparations for the golf day event this year are already underway and organisers look forward to welcoming golfers and supporters to what promises to be another memorable day where sport and community spirit come together in support of a meaningful cause.
